The Chamber of Trade and Industry Kosova (CTIK) has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation of electricity supply, which is causing serious losses for hundreds of businesses across the country, KosovaPress reports.

According to the statement, despite a 16.1% increase in electricity prices and the forced entry of around 1,300 businesses into the open energy market, the state of supply has significantly worsened.

“Businesses are paying several times more for electricity, while the supply is neither secure nor stable,” the statement says.

It further notes that frequent and unplanned power outages have led to severe consequences, including the inability of businesses to operate normally, increased production costs, loss of working hours, and damage to technological equipment and production lines.

“Despite CTIK’s continuous appeals, no concrete action has so far been taken by the responsible institutions to improve the security of energy supply for businesses,” the statement adds.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry Kosova urgently calls on all actors in the energy sector to take emergency measures to ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply for businesses, as well as to initiate procedures for compensating damages caused by power outages. At the same time, CTIK calls on the central institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to act without delay to overcome this situation, which seriously threatens economic stability and the competitiveness of businesses.
