Confirmed: Electrofilter and DeNOX project to start in April 2026
The project for the installation of electrostatic precipitators and the DeNOX system at Unit B1 of the Kosovo B Power Plant is set to begin in April 2026 and will last approximately eight months.
According to the CEO of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Gramos Hashani, this project represents one of the most important environmental investments in the energy sector, with a direct impact on improving air quality, particularly for residents in areas surrounding the power plant.
“The project has faced several challenges in recent years, including the pandemic, the energy crisis, rising costs, and the need to finalize contractual amendments, which were beyond KEK’s control, as KEK is the project beneficiary,” Hashani stated in an interview with ATV, reported by KosovaPress.
He clarified that the final agreements were reached between the European Union and the contracted consortium, in accordance with their respective protocols, while KEK has continuously insisted that the project start as soon as possible.
“The good news is that the project will begin next year,” the KEK CEO declared, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to implementing environmental projects and improving the performance of power plants in line with European standards.
KEK remains committed to reducing pollution, raising environmental standards, and ensuring sustainable electricity production for the country through this and other strategic projects..
