Commercial banks' net profit increases by millions of euros

Commercial banks in Kosovo continue to increase their profits year after year. This financial sector in the country has achieved high profits during 2024.

According to the latest report of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) for 2024, from bank loans and other services provided to citizens and businesses, commercial banks had a net profit of 182.1 million euros or about 27 million euros more than in 2023. In 2023, the profit of banks was 155 million euros, KosovaPress reports.

The interest rate for the month of 2024 was up to 6 percent. According to the CBK, the value of loans to households, businesses and other financial corporations reaches 5 billion 813.4 million euros.

Meanwhile, the net profit of microfinance and non-bank financial institutions in Kosovo in 2024 reached 20.3 million euros, all due to the high interest rates on loans they provide to clients.

In the latest report by the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) on the financial system of Kosovo, the average interest rate on loans and leases from microfinance and non-bank financial institutions is 18.7 percent, KosovaPress reports.
