The people of Kacanik are feeling sad and afraid after the murder of police sergeant Muharrem Lika last night.

This citizen demands that those responsible for this crime be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Although she did not personally know the police officer, Mevlide Berisha says that after last night’s incident, they feel very unsafe.

Police sergeant Muharrem Lika was initially wounded around 11:00 PM last night by gunfire near his apartment in Kacanik, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains at large.

The Kosovo Police Union has also reacted to the sergeant’s murder, condemning it as a criminal assassination.

“This serious act is a direct attack on public security, the law, and the very state of Kosovo. Any attack on a police officer is an attack on the Republic of Kosovo! The Kosovo Police is the main pillar of law and security in the country. Attacking it is an attempt to undermine the foundations of our state, and it will not be tolerated. The Kosovo Police Union calls on all state actors and justice institutions to take immediate action to solve this criminal act and bring the perpetrators to justice,” their statement read.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj will hold a press conference today regarding the murder of the police officer in Kacanik.

In the past ten days, five citizens have been killed in Kosovo.
