Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Vlora Citaku, said that former US Congressman Eliot Engel supported Kosovo during the darkest days of occupation.

She said that Engel supported Kosovo’s freedom and independence.

“Eliot Engel did what very few people manage to do in politics. He left a mark on people’s conscience. I then understood that my mission was easier, as I did not only have the duty to create friends, but to honour the friendships that Eliot Engel had created for us. When a small people is heard without being present and its history is told by others, then that history has found a truth, and that voice for us was Eliot Engel. He was the voice that supported Kosovo in the darkest days of occupation,” she said.

The MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo made these remarks at the commemorative session of the Assembly held in honour of the American congressman Eliot Engel.
