The Central Election Commission (CEC) did not certify today the Serbian List for participation in the October 12 local elections.

Members from Vetëvendosje voted against certifying this political party, while members of the CEC from PDK, LDK, and AAK abstained. In favor voted the CEC chair, Kreshnik Radoniqi, and the member from the Serbian List.

Valmira Selmani from the Office for Registration, Certification, and Financial Control of Political Entities said that the Serbian List has run for mayor in 11 municipalities, and for municipal assemblies in 19 municipalities, with a total of 238 candidates.

This vote was opposed by CEC member from Vetëvendosje, Sami Kurteshi, who stated that the Serbian List has a terrorist legacy by taking part in terrorist attacks, and that its members also hold positions in the state of Serbia. Kurteshi also presented several documents concerning members of the Serbian List.

From PDK, Arianit Elshani said they would abstain from voting on certifying the Serbian List, adding that accusations against this party should be addressed through institutions.

Meanwhile, Alban Krasniqi from Vetëvendosje said that 24 candidates, either for mayor or municipal assemblies from the Serbian List, are wanted by the state of Kosovo.

In today’s meeting, the CEC certified Vetëvendosje with 906 candidates in 33 municipalities for mayor and municipal assemblies in 35 municipalities; the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) in 32 municipalities for mayor and municipal assemblies in 35 municipalities, but the candidate for mayor of Deçan, Korab Mushkolaj, was not certified, as he was considered a member of the foreign service by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The CEC also certified the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 832 candidates in 28 municipalities for mayor and in 32 municipalities for municipal assemblies, as well as the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), which is running in 25 municipalities for mayor and in 28 municipal assemblies with 616 candidates. /A.Shala
