Attack on KFOR and Kosovo Police in Zvečan, detention requested for Lj.M

The Special Prosecution, after assessing that all legal conditions have been met, has submitted a request to the Basic Court in Prishtina for the imposition of a 30-day detention measure against the defendant Lj.M., who, in front of the Zvečan municipal building, together with other suspects, attacked members of KFOR, the Kosovo Police, and journalists reporting on the event with stones, a Molotov cocktail, and firearms.

According to the Prosecution, he is suspected of committing the criminal offenses of joining activities against the constitutional order, endangering persons under international protection, participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism, as well as assaulting an official person.

"According to the request of the Special Prosecution, the defendant Lj.M. is suspected that on 29.05.2023, in front of the Zvečan municipal building, together with other suspects, he attacked members of KFOR, the Kosovo Police, and journalists reporting on the event with stones, a Molotov cocktail, and firearms. During the course of the investigation and the search of the defendant's home, material evidence was secured, including a phone, various military uniforms, two USB drives, and a T-shirt with nationalist inscriptions, which confirm the incriminating actions of the defendant on the critical day," the statement said.

The Special Prosecution guarantees the citizens of the country that it remains committed to the full investigation and prosecution of all perpetrators of these criminal offenses.
