The two individuals arrested at the Horgosh border crossing between Serbia and Hungary were not members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), the head of the veterans’ branch in Rahovec, Qemajl Krasniqi, told KosovaPress. According to him, the individuals in question were in Germany during the war.

He confirmed that he is aware of the case and that he has been in communication with their family members throughout the day.

“We confirm at the Rahovec veterans’ branch that the arrested individuals are not on the list of veterans. According to confirmations we have from their family members, they were not in Kosovo during the war, they were in Germany, and they have nothing to do with the war. However, we believe this is part of Serbia’s well-known tactics to cause drama, tragedy, and misfortune among the Albanian people, and to wage a special war against Kosovo—this time targeting innocent citizens of Kosovo. We feel sorry for those people, regardless of the fact that they were not members of the Kosovo Liberation Army,” Krasniqi told KosovaPress.

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the individuals with the initials X.E. and B.E. “are suspected of committing war crimes in Kosovo” in 1999. However, the announcement does not mention their nationality. Serbia claims that in 1999 these individuals kidnapped a Serb with the initials J.M. in Rahovec.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo has not yet issued a statement regarding this case.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has repeatedly urged citizens to avoid traveling or transiting through Serbian territory due to the increased risk of arbitrary detentions and arrests by Serbian authorities. /Sh. Pajaziti
