Around 80 people are suspected of suffering food poisoning after consuming fast food in Hani i Elezit over the past two days.

The State Prosecutor has become involved in the case and, by order of the prosecutor, an investigation has been launched into the criminal offence of “Production and distribution of harmful food products.”

Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Ferizaj region, Kanun Veseli, told KosovaPress that two owners of fast-food restaurants in Hani i Elezit will be interviewed as part of efforts to fully clarify the circumstances of the case.

“Regarding the reported case, we inform you that today, at around 1:40 p.m., the Investigation Unit in Hani i Elezit contacted the State Prosecutor, and on the prosecutor’s order, an investigation was initiated into the offence of ‘Production and distribution of harmful food products.’ As a result, the owners of two restaurants in Hani i Elezit will be interviewed in order to fully clarify the circumstances of the case,” Veseli said in a written response.

Police, in coordination with the State Prosecutor, are carrying out all necessary investigative actions.

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (NIPHK) has also been notified.
