Two people have lost their lives as a result of gunfire in the village of Majac, Podujevë

Last night, a 31-year-old woman is suspected of killing a 45-year-old man from Obiliq, with whom she is believed to have had a relationship.

The family of the 73-year-old woman who died today in Majaci, Podujevë, told KosovaPress that the 31-year-old suspect, after allegedly killing the 45-year-old from Obiliq, entered the home of the 73-year-old victim, who did not survive her injuries.

The family, who did not want to speak to the media, stated that the 31-year-old is suspected of taking the 73-year-old, as well as her son’s wife and her children, hostage. However, they are now in a state of shock.

The 73-year-old woman was the aunt-in-law of the 31-year-old suspect, but the families reportedly had very good relations.

According to the 24-hour report from the Kosovo Police, last night around 06:40 PM, information was received that in this village, a person in a vehicle was found without signs of life. Relevant police units, investigators, and forensic teams arrived immediately at the scene, and the competent prosecutor and medical teams were notified.

At the scene, a white “V” type vehicle with local license plates 01 was found, which belonged to a Kosovar male from Obiliq. The medical team confirmed that the person in the vehicle was deceased.

Based on initial investigations, the police secured information that a female was inside a house, armed, and refusing to communicate with anyone, posing a danger to herself and others. In response, the Special Intervention Unit and mediation officers were deployed, intervened, and brought the situation under control.

Inside the house, two females were found with serious injuries but still alive. According to the police, they received medical treatment from the emergency unit and were later taken to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo under medical and police supervision.

The Institute of Forensic Medicine retrieved the deceased body from the scene. The police reported that on March 23, 2026, around 03:35 AM, one of the female victims passed away at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, a death confirmed by the attending physician. By order of the prosecutor from the Department of Serious Crimes, the body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. The case has been reclassified as “Aggravated Murder” and “Unauthorized Possession, Control, or Handling of Firearms.”

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtinë stated that as a result of the gunshots, two individuals, identified by the initials I.B. and M.G., lost their lives, while the suspect remains in serious health condition. During the crime scene examination, a firearm, several bullet casings, and other relevant material evidence were seized.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the motive of the case is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the incident.
