Today in Prishtina, the first joint Clinical Congress of Albanian Surgeons has commenced – an event that brings together surgeons from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, and the Albanian diaspora. In parallel, the Fifth Congress of the Kosovo College of Surgeons is also taking place, which has already become an important scientific and professional tradition in the country.
This year, the Clinical Surgery Congress brings together 235 surgeons, including 74 international experts from the United States, Europe, and the region, who will share experiences, innovations, and the latest challenges in modern surgery.
The President of the Kosovo College of Surgeons, Rifat Latifi, said that the number of participants this year is exceptionally large.
“This is the Fifth Congress of the Kosovo College of Surgeons, but it is also special because this is the first congress of all Albanian surgeons wherever they are – from the USA, Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, and all European countries. We have had similar congresses before, but we never called it properly the First Albanian Congress of Albanian Surgeons,” he said.
This year as well, surgeons from various countries around the world have come to lecture in Kosovo; among them, 65 are foreign lecturers and around 60 are Albanian lecturers from different countries.
“If there are no academic and scientific conferences and congresses, how would we share knowledge and the latest developments in healthcare and medicine? That cannot be done through Facebook; it happens where academic and scientific discussions take place. We are holding this Congress this time in Prishtina; the next Albanian surgeons’ congress will be in Tirana, then in Skopje, and we will continue this rotation so that all our territories come together to develop modern Albanian surgery,” he said.
The First Clinical Congress of Albanian Surgeons will last four days, from today until 28 September 2024.
The official opening ceremony of this Congress, organized in cooperation with surgeons from Albanian territories, will take place today starting at 18:00.
In previous years, Clinical Surgery Congresses have also gathered participants and lecturers from various countries around the world. /KosovaPress
