In the Basic Court of Pristina, a hearing was held today in the case against Slobodan Radenkovic, accused of attacking KFOR in May 2023. The hearing reviewed a plea agreement reached between the defendant, Radenkovic, and the Kosovo Special Prosecution, which foresees a two-year prison sentence for the criminal offense of “attacking an official person,” while for the offense of “participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism,” it provides for six months in prison or a €15,000 fine.
The agreement between the defendant and the prosecution was also accepted by the trial panel, and Judge Medie Bytyqi decided that the verdict against Slobodan Radenkovic would be announced today at 10:30 a.m.
When asked by the presiding judge whether he had been threatened or induced into the agreement, Radenkovic denied this.
Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu said the agreement with the defendant was reached without pressure and in consultation with his defense counsel.
The plea agreement foresees an effective two-year prison sentence for the offense of attacking an official person, including time spent in detention, while for participating in a crowd, a six-month sentence is foreseen, which may be replaced with a €15,000 fine.
The defense also stated that it stands by the agreement reached with the Special Prosecution.
Defense attorney Bojana Srbljak requested that the court allow the defendant to pay the €15,000 fine in installments over a period of two years.
Judge Medije Bytyqi accepted the plea agreement of guilt from the defendant, Slobodan Radenkovic.
The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo had filed an indictment against Radenkovic for the criminal offenses of “attacking an official person” and “participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism.”
According to the indictment, on May 29, 2023, from 06:00 in the morning until the evening, in the perimeter of the Zvecan municipal building, the defendant, in coordination with others, is suspected of taking part in a group that used violence against members of the KFOR peacekeeping mission and the Kosovo Police.
