The Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica today approved a proposal to remove the “I Love Mitrovica” sign, which had been installed by the previous municipal administration at the beginning of October last year, KosovaPress reports.
This item had not been part of the original agenda distributed to the media around ten days earlier, but was added during the session at the request of assembly members from the Serbian List.
The proposal was approved with 10 votes in favor and 5 against.
Voting against were assembly members from the Citizens’ Initiative “North for All”, Marko Jaksic and Ivan Miletic, as well as Serbian Democracy assembly member Ivan Miletic. Aida Ferati-Doli from the Vetëvendosje Movement and Emir Azemi from the Democratic Party of Kosovo also voted against the proposal.
The “I Love Mitrovica” sign had been installed after the previous Cyrillic sign, “I Love N. Mitrovica”, was removed on October 2, 2025, and replaced with a new version in the Latin alphabet, featuring a green heart and a new municipal emblem.
