The Basic Court in Gjakova, during a hearing, rejected the requests of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjakova to impose pre-trial detention on nine individuals from the municipality of Rahovec, suspected of committing the criminal offense of falsifying voting results.
According to the announcement from the Basic Court in Gjakova, based on the Prosecutor’s request, there is a reasonable suspicion that the defendants, in their capacity as chairpersons of vote-counting commissions and with authorizations received from the Central Election Commission (CEC), at the Rahovec Municipal Counting Center, unlawfully interfered with the voting process by falsifying the results, thereby undermining the integrity of the electoral process and the free will of the voters.
“The pre-trial judge, Samedin Cena, has determined that the legal conditions for pre-trial detention of the defendants were not met and has instead ordered that they report to the police station.
Under this decision, the defendants will report to the police station for a period of one (1) month, counted from February 11, 2026, to March 11, 2026.
The parties have the right to appeal this decision to the Kosovo Court of Appeals within the legal deadline,” the Basic Court in Gjakova announced.
