Naim Murseli, accused of murdering his wife, Liridona Ademaj, has been admitted to the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo and is expected to remain there for several more weeks.
This was confirmed to KosovaPress by the director of the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry, Shpend Haxhi Beqiri, who stated that Murseli was sent today to the Neurology Clinic for examinations.
“This is a sensitive case, and everything is done under a court order. We only act on court documents. Once the report is completed, you will be informed… He is currently admitted (to Psychiatry). He will remain hospitalized for several more weeks until we conclude the process. We will carry out all necessary analyses, specifications… From your clinic, he was sent to Neurology today, correct? Yes, for scientific examinations, nothing else,” Haxhi Beqiri said.
This was also confirmed by the director of the Neurology Clinic, Edmond Komoni, who told KosovaPress that Murseli underwent an electrocardiogram (ECG) this morning.
Meanwhile, on February 9, the Basic Court in Prishtina issued an order for the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry to conduct a psychiatric evaluation of the accused, Naim Murseli.
“The Basic Court in Prishtina – Department for Serious Crimes, on June 4, 2025, approved the request of the defense attorney of the accused N.M. for issuing an Order for Psychiatric Evaluation. On June 9, 2025, the trial panel issued an Order instructing the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry in Prishtina to carry out the psychiatric examination of the accused N.M.,” reads the response from court spokesperson Mirlinda Gashi.
In the June 4 hearing, the court panel approved the request from Murseli’s defense team to carry out a psychiatric evaluation.
During the initial hearing, the fourth person listed in the indictment, Tom Dodaj, pleaded guilty. He was included in the indictment because he had sold the weapon to Murseli that was used in the murder of Liridona Ademaj. The court sentenced Dodaj to five years in prison and a fine of 5,000 euros.
On January 15, 2025, the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina filed an indictment against Naim Murseli, Granit Plava, Kushtrim Kokalla, and Tom Dodaj. The accused are charged with the murder of Liridona Ademaj on November 29, 2023.
According to the indictment, Murseli, Plava, and Kokalla had agreed that the murder would be carried out by Granit Plava, under an arrangement in which Liridona Ademaj’s husband, Naim Murseli, would pay him 30,000 euros.
