Kurti: If Kosovo qualifies for the World Cup, rewards will be beyond imagination

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has allocated a reward of €500,000 to the Kosovo national team following its success against Slovakia—a triumph that sent the Dardanians to the playoff final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

At the next meeting of the Government of Kosovo, Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that Kosovo achieved an extraordinary success by reaching the final, while also warning of even larger rewards in the event of qualification for the World Cup.

“In Bratislava, within the framework of the playoff for the 2026 World Cup, where Slovakia was introduced to world-class footballers from Kosovo, this represents a historic moment and success for our country. At the end of November, we allocated €250,000 upon securing the playoff, and on that same day we pledged to allocate another €500,000 in the event of victory against Slovakia. That pledge will be fulfilled today, but I do not want it to end here.

I strongly hope that our exemplary boys, whom I had the pleasure of meeting last night, will win the playoff final and write their names in the history of Kosovo football as the first to realize the dream of the World Cup. Qualification for the World Cup would mark the 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s admission to UEFA and FIFA in a meaningful way.

A victory tomorrow would also be a reason for us to gather here again. In the event of qualification for the World Cup, we will allocate another €1 million for our national football team. In case of qualification, we pledge today that if we move forward and qualify, there will be rewards beyond imagination for the successes that will follow in the World Cup, which will be held in the United States of America,” Kurti stated.

The allocation of these funds was approved unanimously by the government cabinet.
