The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a phone conversation with the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, during which they discussed the enlargement process and the progress of Kosovo’s reforms toward integration into the European Union, KosovaPress reports.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, it was emphasized that integration into the European Union remains a key priority of the Government of Kosovo.

“The Prime Minister underlined the importance of obtaining candidate status as an important step toward membership in the European Union,” the statement said.

It further states that Prime Minister Kurti highlighted that among the first decisions of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, alongside the approval of the new budget worth 4 billion euros, was also the approval of the Growth Plan worth 882.6 million euros, which aims to accelerate reforms and the country’s economic development.

“Following the approval of the Growth Plan, a series of implementation steps are planned for the first half of this year, closely linked to the passage of laws in the Assembly, amounting to around 90 million euros.”

Kurti and Kos also discussed current developments in the country and the region, recalling that Kosovo is fully aligned with the European Union’s foreign and security policy and has joined all EU sanctions packages against the Russian Federation in response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
