Hamza on meeting with Kurti: We should first discuss priorities

“We need to discuss priorities first, not positions,” said Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Bedri Hamza shortly before his meeting with Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti at the Assembly of Kosovo.

Hamza mentioned partnership with allies and increasing salaries and pensions when asked whether a solution would be found for the formation of the new institutions.

“First, we need to discuss priorities because I competed with a program and several priorities. I did not compete to have four or five ministers or to get this or that position. I competed to create a better environment for businesses, to have partnerships with our allies and friends, and to increase salaries and pensions,” he said.

On Friday, Kurti also invited LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ardian Gjini to meetings. Gjini rejected the invitation, while mentioning some of his demands, including American gas as a condition for providing the quorum for the election of the president.

Kosovo’s Central Election Commission (CEC) certified the results of the June 7 elections on Wednesday. The Vetëvendosje Movement emerged as the first-ranked party with 47.13 percent of the vote, securing 53 seats in the Assembly. The Democratic Party of Kosovo came second with 19.44 percent and 22 seats. The Democratic League of Kosovo won 16.69 percent and 18 seats, while the Alliance secured 6.74 percent and seven seats. Non-majority communities secured 20 seats in the Assembly. /KosovaPress/
