Kosovo’s Kurti says public administration is the face of the Republic to citizens

Kosovo’s Prime Minister in office Albin Kurti has expressed gratitude to the people who, according to him, keep the country functioning every day.

At the ceremony marking—four days earlier—the International Day of Public Service (June 23), Kurti said that citizens encounter Kosovo through the people who serve it: through the officials who listen to them, the teachers who educate them, the doctors and nurses who heal them, the police officers who maintain order, the inspectors who protect safety and quality, as well as through clerks who provide a fair, clear, and timely response.

“The administration is the face of the Republic to the citizen and the citizen’s experience of the state. From the way we listen to the citizen, how we respond and how we address their concerns, trust in our institutions is built. Good governance, transparency and dedication to citizens are not a political slogan. They are our guiding principle. In a democratic Republic, power is not a privilege but a high responsibility. Leadership that serves does not ask how much power I have, but what responsibility I have. It does not ask how much I control, but how much I facilitate. This is the true path of public service. Public administration reform is democratic depth. It lives every day at the counter, in offices, in schools, in municipalities, in health centers and digital platforms. Our orientation is clear: public administration should not be an obstacle to the citizen, but the bridge that connects them with their rights and opportunities,” Kurti said, as reported by KosovaPress.

Furthermore, Kurti stated that the transformation of the state is measured not only by laws and reforms, but also by the experience citizens have when requesting a service.

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, said that this day is a reminder that public administration is one of the fundamental pillars of state functioning.

He further said that their goal is to build a professional administration with simple procedures, secure systems, and measurable results.
