With 6 votes in favour and 1 against, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) has approved the candidacies of five applicants running for Chief State Prosecutor.
At the meeting, chair Arian Gashi announced that, according to the evaluation panel, all candidates meet the criteria for the position.
“I inform you that we have received 5 applications from candidates. Meanwhile, we did not receive any applications by post. The Secretariat, based on the article on the appointment of the Chief State Prosecutor and heads of Kosovo prosecution offices, reviewed the submitted materials to determine whether they met the criteria required by the regulation. The Secretariat also submitted the list of candidates to the evaluation panel for review and assessment. After reviewing the applications, the evaluation panel has assessed that all candidates meet the criteria,” Gashi said.
The prosecutors who have applied for this position and meet the criteria are: Atdhe Dema, prosecutor in the Department for Counterterrorism at the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo; Naim Abazi, prosecutor in the Department for the Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime at the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo; Rafet Halimi, prosecutor in the Department for the Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime at the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo; Shqipdon Fazliu, prosecutor at the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor; and Zejnullah Gashi, Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina.
