The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), at its 368th meeting held on Thursday, set the dates for the election day on which judges of the Supreme Court, including the Special Chambers, as well as judges of the Court of Appeal, will vote to elect new members of the KJC from among these courts.
January 23, 2025, starting at 10:00, has been set for the election of two members of the Judicial Council from the ranks of the Supreme Court, while January 27 has been set for the election of one member from the Court of Appeal.
Judges Mejreme Memaj, Bashkim Hyseni, Franciska Zhitija, and Rrustem Thaqi are candidates for two positions as members of the Kosovo Judicial Council. Meanwhile, candidates for one position as a KJC member from the Court of Appeal are Mirlinda Bytyqi-Rexhepi and Afërdita Bytyqi.
The Deputy Chair of the KJC, Arjeta Sadiku, proposed these two dates for the election day of the Council’s members.
Sadiku also announced that the self-nominated candidates from both courts meet all the requirements to apply for this position. /A. Shala/
