KEK issues notice regarding ERO’s decision

The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has announced that, in accordance with the decision of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) and based on the Rule for the Supplier of Last Resort (SLR), has started supplying you with electricity as of June 1, 2025, for a temporary period of 60 days, ending on July 30, 2025.

“After this date, if you have not signed an agreement with a licensed supplier approved by ERO, you will automatically be left without electricity supply, as KEK will no longer have the authority to provide energy in the capacity of the SLR,” the notice states.

In its notice, KEK outlines the necessary steps businesses need to take:

“What should you do? Contact an electricity supplier licensed by ERO as soon as possible. Sign a long-term commercial supply agreement. Ensure the continuity of your electricity supply after July 30, 2025,” the notice adds.

On the other hand, on June 12, 2025, the Board of the Energy Regulatory Office appointed KEK as the Supplier of Last Resort for a six (6) month period, from July 31, 2025, until January 30, 2026.

Businesses and their representatives in Kosovo have strongly expressed that the liberalization process has been accompanied by a series of procedural and substantive violations, which have also been identified by European institutions.

Kosovo’s businesses had previously organized protests against ERO’s decision, claiming that such a move would place a heavy burden on the country’s economy.
