Digital economy reaches 2 billion euros, Kurti: Over 11,000 businesses are active

Over 11,000 businesses are active in the digital economy and professional services sector, said Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He added that the turnover of these businesses reached two billion euros last year.

Kurti made these remarks at an event organized by the Kosovo Association of Service Leaders on the topic “Kosovo: From a Nearshore Destination to a Frontier of Innovation.”

“Service sectors such as BPO and ICT are among the fastest growing in our economy. Today they directly employ over 47,000 people, who represent not only those who work and manage, create and develop, but also families. Then also people who buy houses and other property. Also young people who choose to stay in Kosovo and their cities, which are increasingly developing. Concentrix, the main sponsor of this meeting, has understood this very well and very early. Their decision to open centers not only in Pristina but also in Mitrovica and Prizren shows confidence in the potential of our entire country, not just the capital,” Kurti said.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the country’s greatest wealth is its people, where Kosovo’s youth make up the largest share of the population and, as he said, speak several languages.

“Today, 11,410 businesses are active in the digital economy and professional and support services sector, with a turnover that has reached 2 billion euros in the past year in 2025, marking an average annual growth of 16 percent. Of these, 78 percent generate income from international markets, mainly from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. This shows that Kosovo, beyond products, exports skills and knowledge… If you ask me what Kosovo’s greatest wealth is, I will of course say our people. We are the youngest population in Europe, with more than half of the population under the age of 35, who speak several languages, are talented and optimistic, and have the education to develop their talent,” he added.

Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in Kosovo, Henrik Riby, said they are proud to support this transformation of Kosovo.

“A large number of young people is employed and being employed, and it is a sector growing faster than others because it creates quality jobs, especially for youth, strengthens trade within the country and with other countries. And in the future, we hope that a strong country in addition to Germany, Switzerland and other countries will also include Sweden among those calling you,” he said.

On the first anniversary of the founding of the organization “ABSL Kosovo,” board director Egzon Rexhepi said that Kosovo has talent and member companies that every day promote Kosovo to compete across the country and beyond.

The digital economy and professional services sector in Kosovo is one of the fastest-growing fields in recent years, relying mainly on the strength of young people and their multilingual skills. This sector has expanded its presence in international markets and is considered one of the key pillars of economic development and job creation in the country.
