Today, in a special ceremony, 279 young men and women wore the blue uniform for the first time, officially becoming part of the Police of the Republic of Kosovo. After intensive training, the 62nd Generation successfully completed the basic program and expressed readiness to serve in the field.
The event was attended by high-level institutional representatives, including leaders from the central and local levels and representatives of security institutions, who congratulated the cadets for their dedication and success.
The Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, said that for 26 consecutive years, the Kosovo Police has served with dedication and integrity.
As he stated, being part of the Kosovo Police is an honor and a great responsibility.
Bislimi emphasized that efforts and campaigns aimed at undermining the integrity, professionalism, and image of the Kosovo Police, based on isolated cases, according to him, show intentions harmful to the interests of the Republic of Kosovo.
“For 26 consecutive years since its creation, the Kosovo Police has served with dedication and integrity. This institution is strengthening and its ranks are growing more and more… Being part of the Kosovo Police is an honor and a great responsibility. This uniform and this institution are more than just enforcers of the law… 280 cadets, among them 261 Albanians, 11 Serbs, 4 Bosniaks, 2 Egyptians, and 2 Turks, are united by the same mission and goals. You are here not only to graduate but to swear to represent this uniform by elevating its history and that of our country… Efforts and campaigns to undermine the integrity, professionalism, and image of the Kosovo Police based on isolated cases show intentions harmful to the interests of the Republic of Kosovo and threats to its respected institutions such as the police,” said Bislimi.
The Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that the 62nd Generation supports the shared vision of a professional police force that guarantees order and law and respects and protects our citizens.
Before the new cadets, Minister Sveçla addressed them with the message that their duty is to act with professionalism and courage, respecting the law at every step.
He emphasized that from today, this generation takes upon itself the responsibility to meet the expectations of citizens who demand order, law, and security.
“Today, the Kosovo Police strengthens its ranks with young men and women who have joined with energy, trust, and willingness to serve the citizens and our Republic with professionalism, dedication, and dignity. This generation, which today takes the oath as members of the Kosovo Police, supports our shared vision for a professional police force that guarantees order and law, respects and protects our citizens, and with integrity and discipline protects the trust of citizens built over years for the Kosovo Police… By respecting our laws, you must act with professionalism, courage, and high integrity, engaging in every situation and every need, always selflessly making our Republic ever safer,” said Sveçla.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, told the new cadets that this day marks their first formal commitment to becoming part of the Kosovo Police.
Hoxha emphasized that the police uniform is not a privilege, but a very great responsibility.
He addressed the cadets, telling them that every action they take must be in harmony with the law, internal procedures, and the lawful orders of their superiors.
“This day marks your first formal commitment to become part of our police organization. This organization is obligated to guarantee order and security in our country… The police uniform is not a privilege, but above all, a very great responsibility. At the same time, it is an emotion, a pride in accepting the sacred duty of service to the citizen and the country. You must remember that you will make important decisions throughout your police career. But I advise you that every action you take must be in harmony with the law, internal procedures, and the lawful orders of your superiors. Don’t forget that citizens see hope, courage, protection, and security in your uniform,” said Hoxha.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the 62nd Generation of the Kosovo Police, Fatbardh Berisha, said this moment is the testimony and commitment of their efforts to fulfill with honor and dignity the duties and responsibilities that await them.
Berisha, on behalf of the 62nd Generation, said they will work to maintain the trust that citizens have in the Kosovo Police.
“This moment is the testimony and commitment of our efforts to fulfill with honor and dignity the duties and responsibilities that await us… Today we pledge to implement the guiding principles by which the Kosovo Police is led. We will work with dedication to maintain the trust that citizens have in the Kosovo Police,” emphasized Berisha.
