Today marks 28 years since the first public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
November 28 does not only mark the celebration of Flag Day. Every time this month arrives, Kosovo remembers the first public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army, on November 28, 1997, in Llaushë of Skenderaj.
What pushed the KLA to make its activities public was the killing of the Llaushë schoolteacher, Halit Geci, two days earlier by Serbian forces.
Rexhep Selimi, Daut Haradinaj, and Mujë Krasniqi were the first to appear publicly before the public, at his funeral, as KLA soldiers, as reported by KosovaPress.
The KLA’s statement for its first public appearance was prepared by its own soldiers.
