The demolition of illegally built structures has begun in the barracks area near the prison in northern Mitrovica, aimed at freeing properties belonging to the Trepca enterprise.

According to an official statement, the action comes after the expiration of a previously given deadline and the failure to comply with a notice issued on February 13, 2026. The company said that more than 20 garages and structures located along the road are situated in the area, which are considered property of the enterprise and have been unlawfully occupied.

Trepca stated that the parties had initially been given a 48-hour deadline to voluntarily vacate the area, while also being offered the opportunity to submit any potential agreements for review.

“This action will continue until the full return of the property under the management of Trepça J.S.C.,” the statement said.

The company also announced that the operation is being carried out with institutional support.
