On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Kosovo’s liberation, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that the fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and NATO soldiers turned terror into courage and pain into hope. She said that on that historic day, they brought light after a long period of darkness and made freedom a reality.

In her message for June 12th, the Day of Liberation, Osmani wrote on Facebook that despite attempts by Kosovo’s enemies to rewrite history, a history written in blood cannot be changed or erased by lies written in ink.

“Free Kosovo, forever proud. On this day, 26 years ago, hope arrived on the scorched land of Kosovo: 50,000 NATO soldiers entered our long-suffering country, contributing to the liberation of a people who had been oppressed for centuries. Over one million Albanians returned to their homes,” she wrote.

She emphasized that Kosovo is free, independent, democratic, and eternal—because eternity was given by the martyrs and heroes of freedom.

To mark the 26th anniversary of liberation, both central and local institutions have organized several activities throughout the day.
