15 families evacuated in Mitrovica
A total of 15 families have been evacuated from the “2 Korriku” neighborhood in Mitrovica since 2:00 a.m., South Mitrovica Fire Brigade Commander Burim Ibishi has announced.
As a result of the flooding, Ibishi told KosovaPress that the situation in this part of the city is not good, as water has covered almost the entire area.
According to Ibishi, teams on the ground are also facing additional difficulties, as some residents are refusing evacuation.
“Some residents are leaving, others are not. This is creating problems for us and requires organizing continuous monitoring. The situation is not good, but I cannot say it is extremely alarming,” Ibishi told KosovaPress.
He added that, for the moment, the waters are still within their riverbeds and have not overflowed, but the neighborhoods of “2 Korriku” and “Lisica” remain the most problematic, where firefighters are facing the greatest challenges and remain on constant alert.
