Only four months after Kosovo's declaration of independence, on June 15, 2008, its constitution entered into force as the highest legal act, which defines Kosovo as an independent, sovereign, democratic, unique and indivisible country.

The Republic of Kosovo is a secular state, a multi-ethnic society, composed of Albanians and other communities, is stated in the text of the Constitution, and with its entry into force starts the implementation of the plan of the former President Martti Ahtisaari.
