The new Criminal Procedure Code stipulates the suspension of officials with indictments
Acting Minister of Justice Selim Selimi presented today the finalization and amendments to the new draft code of criminal procedure, which are expected to strengthen the fight against corruption and facilitate trial in absentia. Selimi said that under the new Criminal Procedure Code, any official who abuses his official position and is indicted will be suspended immediately. He also said that the harmonization of some legal provisions will facilitate the intervention of institutions for confiscation of assets acquired through criminal offenses.
Regarding the investigation and trial in absentia, Selimi said that the obstacles to prosecute criminals who committed crimes during the war in Kosovo have already been eliminated.
