Kosovo Police reported Sunday morning that the New Year celebration was mostly calm and without major incidents.

The police say that no case or incident with fatality has been reported, including road accidents.

However, even this time there were injuries as a result of the use of firearms and pyrotechnic devices.

"According to the reports received from all the Regional Police Directorates (DRP), the New Year's Eve passed mostly peacefully, although in some regions some incidents with bodily injuries and property damage were reported as a result of the careless use of pyrotechnic devices and firearms. No case or incident with fatality has been reported, including traffic accidents", the official police communication states.

During the holiday period, the Kosovo Police drafted and implemented the operational order for increasing security measures and police presence in locations or premises where there was expected to be a greater concentration or presence of citizens during the celebrations.

Also in the focus of this operative order was the supervision and control of road traffic, the management of border points, including the international airport "Adem Jashari".

The Kosovo Police says it is committed to maintaining order and public safety and providing other services to citizens, in accordance with its legal and constitutional mandate.
