Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that negotiations with other parties to form the Kurti 3 government will begin this week. He added that if the Kurti 3 government is not formed, they are ready for early parliamentary elections.

The leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, said at a press conference that once negotiations for forming the new government are successful, he will convene a session to vote on the government.

“The last day a session can be held where I present the government cabinet is October 26. These days we are focused on a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the local election results, but very soon, starting this week, we will also begin talks for the central government, because Kosovo needs a new mandate for our government. We need a new mandate in line with the results of the February 9 elections… We need a proper mandate, which will of course begin once we present the new composition of the Kurti 3 government in the Assembly,” Kurti said.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti also stated that if the Kurti 3 government is not formed, they are ready for new parliamentary elections.

“We are preparing to govern more than ever across municipalities and return governance in the capital, and it is very important that we prepare for the Kurti 3 government. If the Kurti 3 government is not formed, of course we are ready for new parliamentary elections,” he said.

Regarding with whom he will conduct these negotiations, Kurti said that for now, time should be allowed.

“The communication and talks we will hold are what will determine the composition of the new majority in the Assembly of Kosovo that will vote for the new government. For now, we need to give time to these communications and talks, and I cannot say more than that at this stage,” he declared.

Following the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo on Friday, the country’s President, Vjosa Osmani, immediately mandated the leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, on Saturday to form the new government.
