In his speech, Jakup Krasniqi asked the trial panel in The Hague to examine each piece of evidence patiently, stating that they would not find a “joint criminal enterprise,” KosovaPress reports.

He concluded his speech by calling for justice.

“Today I am in my 16th year of imprisonment simply because I fought for freedom and independence. I stand before you not as a criminal, but as a person born and shaped by wars. My human rights have been denied. I was denied and prohibited the most human right, the right to openly love my country. For these virtues, I was imprisoned on November 4, 2020. The injustice of this case was written into the indictment itself.

When the truth is simply told, there is no need for embellishment,” Krasniqi said.

He emphasized that our generation had a vision: a life in freedom.

“It was this vision that guided the war,” Krasniqi said..
