​ICMG calls for acceleration of procedures for the construction of sports facilities in Kosovo

The Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, accompanied by the leadership of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOOC) – President Ismet Krasniqi, Secretary General Besim Aliti and Vice President Milaim Kelmendi, was received by the newly appointed Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Blerim Gashani.

Secretary General Filippousis was invited by Minister Gashani on the occasion of his visit to Pristina to participate in the annual meeting of the ICMG Commission “Women in Sport”.

The discussions focused on the organization of the Pristina 2030 Mediterranean Games. Minister Gashani expressed his strong commitment, readiness and willingness to cooperate with the International Committee of Merits (ICMG) and all relevant stakeholders, with the aim of making the Pristina Games a model host for such a major event.

Filippousis congratulated the Minister on his new position and expressed ICMG’s satisfaction with the full engagement of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in the processes moving forward in the organization of the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games, the largest sporting event ever organized in the country.

He also emphasized the key role of the country’s sports preparation in order to present competitive teams at the Taranto 2026 and Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games and called for the acceleration of procedures related to the construction and renovation of the Mediterranean Village and the sports facilities of the Games.
