​Deserved punishment is required for the accused in the case of journalist Selimi

At the Basic Court in Prishtina, the final word was held against the accused Arsim Limani, suspected of serious attempted murder against RTK journalist Alban Selimi.

The State Prosecutor's Office said that it has already been proven that the accused, Arsim Limani, has committed the criminal offense of aggravated attempted murder.

The prosecutor, Javorka Perlinçeviq, has proposed to the Court to find the accused guilty and punish him according to the law.

On the other hand, Kujtim Kerveshi, the defense lawyer of the journalist, said that by setting the fire, he intended to stop the journalist from doing his work.

Meanwhile, the injured Alban Selimi said that the accused is a recidivist with a criminal past and that the court should not accept his plea as it is not sincere.

He said that with this attack the accused wanted to take his life and that of his family, while adding that this attack has changed his life and that of his family.

He requested that he receive the deserved punishment.

The defender of the accused, Fanol Krasniqi, said that the case is mainly influenced by the media.

Meanwhile, the president of the panel, judge Medie Bytyqi, said that the announcement of the verdict will be held on February 15 at 11:30, adding that attendance is not mandatory.
