Ziadeh makes urgent call for calm and restraint: There is no alternative to dialogue
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh, is deeply concerned by ongoing developments and the potential escalation of the security situation that will ultimately impact people on the ground.
Recalling the developments of Autumn 2021 and July 2022, SRSG Ziadeh calls for calm and restraint, appealing to the parties to protect the achievements made to date.
She calls on all concerned to exercise responsible leadership and to take every precaution to avoid a deterioration that could have unintended consequences.
She urges the return to talks to preserve the achievements of the EU-facilitated dialogue. “There is no alternative to dialogue to overcome disagreements and prevent misunderstandings that could further raise tensions,” she said.
