The feature film 'DUA', written and directed by Blerta Basholli, is having its world premiere today at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes.

The film has been selected among only seven feature films in this year’s edition of this prestigious program.

This is the first time a Kosovar film has been selected for Semaine de la Critique, one of the most prestigious and competitive sections of the festival, where 'DUA' will compete for four main awards in the feature film category.

A coming-of-age drama set in 1990s Kosovo and inspired by the director’s personal experiences, the film follows the story of an introverted teenager searching for identity during a complex political period. The role is played by Piena Matoshi, the daughter of well-known Kosovar actress Adriana Matoshi.

The producers are Valon Bajgora and Yll Uka (Ikonë Studio, Kosovo), while the co-producers are Britta Rindelaub and Thomas Reichlin (Alva Film, Switzerland), as well as Amaury Ovise (Kazak Productions, France).

The film is supported by the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC), the Federal Office of Culture, ARTE Cinema, Eurimages, SRF – Swiss Radio and Television, Cineforom, and the Kosovo Cinematography Center.
