Work has begun on the reconstruction of the regional road Arllat–Malishevë, a segment that connects the municipalities of Drenas and Malishevë.

The project is worth nearly €1.85 million and is expected to ease citizens’ movement, increase traffic safety, create more favorable conditions for the transport of goods, and support economic development, reports KosovaPress.

During the inauguration ceremony marking the start of works, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the project benefits both citizens and businesses.

Kurti also explained how the project will connect surrounding villages.

He emphasized that the project also includes the construction of sidewalks in residential areas, bus stops, and the installation of road signage in line with European standards.

“Other important elements foreseen in this road reconstruction project include sidewalks in inhabited areas and bus stops or stations. Of course, after reconstruction, the road will be equipped with both horizontal and vertical signage according to European standards, from lines, boards, orientation signs to reflective and other protective elements aimed at increasing traffic safety. The contract value is nearly €1.85 million, while the deadline for completing the road is 150 working days,” Kurti said.

Meanwhile, acting Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Dimal Basha said the project is the second-largest road investment in Malishevë within two months, with more than €4.2 million invested by the Kurti government.

He added that further investments will continue in the municipality and beyond.

“We were here together in May when we started the rehabilitation of the Kijevë–Malishevë road, an investment of €2.4 million. Now we are on another road axis, Arllat–Malishevë, an investment of over €1.8 million. In other words, within two months, the Kurti government is investing over €4.2 million in the municipality of Malishevë. For your information, we will continue with other investments in this municipality, and our investments will continue across all regional and national roads,” Basha said.

The deadline for the completion of this project is 150 working days.
