The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, has said that the official price list of medicinal products will come into force on February 1.

He said that through this, citizens will have medicines at cheaper prices and the same prices.

However, Vitia, at the press conference after the government meeting on Friday, said that he expects that in the first months there will be resistance and a slight shock to the pharmaceutical market, but underlined that they are determined not to withdraw from the implementation of the Law on the unification of the price of medicinal products.

Vitia: We are determined to implement the law

“Finally, the citizens of Kosovo are enabled to have fair access and fair prices to medicines. All stakeholders have been informed without distinction, and the law will begin to be implemented. All the meetings we have had, not only with pharmacies but also earlier during the drafting of the law and other phases. Now from February 1st, this law will enter into force. Today I will have a meeting with the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate and call on all entities to implement the law, despite the challenges they may have at the beginning. This is a law for citizens and it is a fair law. Of course, those who do not implement it will be subject to adequate measures. There is a group of companies that have not submitted the specified medicines for application for the prices of their medicines according to legal requirements. Measures and sanctions will be taken against them based on the current law. This is an unstoppable process and we are determined to see it through to the end”, emphasized Vitia.
