US Congressman Joe Wilson has called Serbian minister Snezhana Paunovic’s statement “disgusting,” after she said that she “would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo” if she had been in Slobodan Milosevic’s position in 1999.

According to Wilson, the senior official’s comments demonstrate that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly should not consider Belgrade’s bid to host the 2027 annual meeting.

“The OSCE is designed to build consensus in Europe, not to reignite ethnic tensions,” he said, as reported by KosovaPress.

Paunovic’s remarks about the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo were made during a program on the Serbian channel Kurir.

KosovaPress reported on her fascist statements, which have since drawn reactions from political actors in the region and beyond.

Meanwhile, on Thursday of last week (July 16, 2026), an official request was also submitted for her dismissal from the position of minister in Serbia.
