Turkish journalist for KosovaPress: The hope to find survivors is dwindling

Hospitals in the countries most affected by the earthquake have been transformed into emergency rooms. This is what the journalist Ezgi Toper says, who says that operations have been stopped in the provinces of Turkey for more than a week now. The "TRT World" reporter, who witnessed many bodies pulled alive from the ruins, says that hope is dwindling that after so many days there will still be survivors. "Everywhere I looked, there were only ruins", this is how she describes the situation in the three provinces from which she has been reporting throughout the past week.

On Monday morning, she and other "TRT World" colleagues traveled to the places affected by the earthquake. She confesses that even after landing by plane from Istanbul, they still did not understand how serious the situation was becoming in those areas.

The Turkish journalist, who has witnessed many rescues of citizens, says that every second they are losing hope that people will be brought out alive from the ruins...
