The Central Election Commission (CEC) has certified the first group of ten political entities and 64 candidates for the local elections. In today’s meeting, two citizens’ initiatives and eight independent candidates were certified to participate in the local elections.

The CEC has begun the process of certifying political entities and candidates who will take part in the local elections for mayors and municipal assemblies.

The Director of the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Oversight of Political Parties at the CEC, Besnik Buzhala, said that tomorrow will be the deadline for the certification of political entities and their candidates for the October 12 local elections.

“The application period for certification of political entities and their candidates for the local elections of October 12, 2025, ends tomorrow, August 13, at 23:59. Regarding the application for certification, a total of ten political entities have completed the application through the digital platform launched by the CEC, which is being used for the second time in these local elections. As for the first recommendation, the political entity ‘We Can’ has applied for certification as a citizens’ initiative. This entity has applied for the assembly in the Municipality of Ferizaj with a total of 31 candidates,” he said.

The total number of candidates representing these political entities is 64, of whom five are candidates for mayors and 59 for municipal assembly members.

In today’s meeting, the CEC also certified the political entity as a citizens’ initiative “Prishtina in Your Hands” with 22 candidates. Hasan Ismajli was certified as an independent candidate in Fushë Kosovë, Rufki Suma for Hani i Elezit, Shaban Miftari in Vushtrri, Fatmir Selimi in Prishtina, Ljubisa Rakinac in Shtërpcë, Artin Veliaj in Junik, Bashkim Fazliu in Ferizaj, and Muhamet Ademaj in Shtime. /KosovaPress
