During the year 2022, 2765 cases of domestic violence were recorded. The victims of these cases were 2288 women and 517 men (some cases had more than one victim). There have been 7 cases of "serious murder" (murder within the family), in these seven cases, 8 victims (one case with two victims), 4 men and 4 women, have been recorded. During the period January-October 2023, 2186 cases of domestic violence were recorded. The victims of these cases were 1763 women and 497 men (some cases had more than one victim). There have been 4 cases of "serious murder" (murder within the family), in these four cases 5 victims (one case with two victims), 2 men and 3 women, have been identified," the police responded in an email.
Ibishi appealed to undertake a campaign of handing over illegal weapons because murders, robberies and threats are usually carried out with those weapons.
