The United Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK) this week is expected to make a decision on whether or not to suspend the strike in education.

Today, through a letter, this union requested the opinion of its membership on the suspension of the strike until January, and the beginning of the teaching process from October 3.

Reshit Kusaj, head of the Strike Council of the SBASHK, told KosovaPress that the decision to suspend the strike will be taken in consultation with the membership.

Kusaj said that during the weekend they will come out with the decision on the next steps to be taken on the strike, which started on August 25.

The President of the Strike Council in SBASHK further added that they will hold an online meeting with the membership to discuss this issue in order to make an operational plan for the next few days.

The Government of Kosovo says that the Law on salaries, which foresees their increase, will be approved soon. A few weeks ago, she presented a package to deal with inflation, within which public sector employees benefit from an additional 50 euros, starting this month, but the SBASHK rejected the offer.
