The Basic Court in Drenas has sentenced Eqrem Avdullahu from Rahovec to four months in prison for allegedly threatening Hysni Gucati, head of the Organization of Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans (OVL-UÇK).

At the final hearing, the judge said the defendant was also fined €70, while the parties have the right to appeal the decision.

Judge Shefqet Baleci, while announcing the verdict, said that the defendant, Eqrem Avdullahu, was found guilty of threatening Hysni Gucati through the social media platform Facebook, with the intention of causing fear and anxiety. According to the court's decision, Avdullahu was sentenced to four months in prison, which he will serve 15 days after the verdict becomes final. He was also ordered to cover procedural expenses and compensation for crime victims.

Following the court's decision against the person who had threatened him, Hysni Gucati told the media that he respected the ruling.

He said that there are also other cases initiated in court against individuals, noting that he has filed around 16-17 lawsuits against people from different cities, as well as from Germany and Switzerland. Most of them are abroad.

Asked how he viewed the defendant's absence from court, Hysni Gucati said that he believed the defendant felt guilty.

“This man felt guilty, he felt very bad and knew his responsibility. That is why he did not come here today for the hearing. I feel sorry for his sons, who have called me, written to me and apologized to me, but when you have a father like that, it is better to be ashamed of that old man, to burden the family and not mind his own business. He is in Rahovec, I am in Skenderaj. He does not even know me, nor my father or grandfather, which shows that a bad person causes trouble for his family and those around him as well. I feel sorry for his children, but I do not feel sorry for that old man at all. He got what he deserved; perhaps he should have received more, but I agree with the judge's decision,” Gucati said.

Asked why he had insisted during the hearing on determining whether someone had encouraged the defendant to make the threat, Hysni Gucati's lawyer, Halim Shala, said they had no suspicions, but the request was made due to the defendant's age.

According to the Prosecution, Avdullahu had threatened the head of the Organization of Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans, Hysni Gucati, through Facebook.

According to the indictment, there is well-founded suspicion that on June 3, 2026, at around 1:10 pm, the defendant, Eqrem Avdullahu, seriously threatened Hysni Gucati through his Facebook account, causing him fear, anxiety and insecurity about his life.

The indictment states that a photo of Hysni Gucati was posted on a Facebook page called “Diaspora në Krye” with the caption: “The Prosecutor's Office is investigating Hysni Gucati – he received a salary for 19 years as a school secretary without going to work.”

According to the Prosecution, the defendant then commented through his personal Facebook profile, under the name “Eqrem Avdullahu”: “This pig should be shot.”
