The public health system in our country is facing a shortage of anesthesiologists. There are 92 specialists in this field in all public health institutions in the country. Whereas, only in the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, there are 51 anesthesiologists. And this number of anesthesiologists is considered insufficient to perform all the necessary medical services. The Director of the Clinic of Central Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Gazmend Spahija, considers the lack of this health staff a national emergency. According to him, to cover all the needs of patients in UCCK, there should be 120 anesthesiologists.
