High manganese values in Badoc Lake water continue to be still present.

As such, water is not yet recommended to be used for drinks and especially among the most sensitive groups such as children from 0 to 5 years old, elderly, and those with disease. While the water of the Badoc Lake can be used for washing dishes and clothes.

Although the water is continuing to be distributed with autobots in the neighborhoods of Prishtina, citizens have said that the quality of drinking water should be improved and that the supply should be regular. On the contrary, if the situation will last, citizens have also announced protests.

Doctor of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (NIPHK) Burbuqe Nushi tells KosovaPress that every day manganese values continue to rise.

Nushi has warned that if there is no rainfall, then this condition with drinking water is expected to continue over the next two weeks.

Spokeswoman of RWC "Prishtina", Arjeta Mjeku has told the measures this company has taken to overcome the condition of drinking water after the introduction of high manganese values in Lake Badoc.

Citizens are being supplied with water from the autobots to use it only in the kitchen, while for consuming they buy it in markets.

Ilir Fetahaj from the "Sunny Hill" neighborhood in Prishtina, says that if the difficult situation with the supply of drinking water will continue, then the citizens should protest.

Another citizen Ibrahim Asllani says that usually when in such situations, they are forced to buy drinking water.

The water supply from the autobots is done in the neighborhoods “Badoci i ri”, “Graçanica”, “Hajvalia”, “Veterniku”, “Lagjja e Spitalit”, “Rruga B”, “Sunny Hill” and “Muharrem Fejza”.

Manganese is a mineral that can cause serious health problems if its amount in water is greater than 0.05 milligrams per liter, as this can add to color, odor and taste to the water.

Some of the potential effects of using high manganese water are problems in the digestive system, impact on the nervous system, damage to children's health and heart problems. /A. Shala/
