The transport of goods by train increases by 85%

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published transport and telecommunications statistics for the first quarter, with data on Air, Rail, and Road transportation, and Telecommunications. According to KAS, in the territory of Kosovo there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport. In the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, the number of passengers who have used the train as a means of travel was about 16 thousand, where compared to Q1 of 2020, the number of passengers has decreased by (-21.34%). Transportation of goods by train in Q1 2021 was about 187 thousand tons, which compared to Q1 2020 is an increase of 85%. Meanwhile, in terms of the number of flights, in Q1 2021 were 1 317 flights, which compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 2021) has a decrease of (-14.14%). The number of passengers who have used the aircraft as a means of transport was about 330 thousand, which compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 2021) has a decrease of (-23.44%).
