The second Solar Forum in Kosovo has started today, which aims to promote investments in renewable energy. In this forum organized by the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with USAID, it was said that solar energy strengthens energy security and creates new jobs. The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli stated that they are working on the creation of a new policy aimed at decarbonization and the provision of sustainable energy supply to all citizens. While she added that they are planning for Kosovo to produce 1400 MGW of renewable energy within 10 years. "To build a brighter and more sustainable energy future, we are working hard to lay the foundations for a new policy and regulatory framework that focuses on decarbonizing and providing a sustainable and affordable energy supply for all the citizens. This strategy focuses on an aggressive deployment of renewable capacities, energy efficiency measures, and regional cooperation to ensure security of electricity supply. In other words, decarbonization constitutes Kosovo’s new energy path. Within ten years, we plan to deploy 1400MW of new renewable energy capacities. This will ensure that a third of the electricity we consume is produced from clean energy, and that of greenhouse gas emissions decrease by 25 percent. What this all means is that Kosovo will son have one of the most up-to-date energy policy frameworks in the region, that highlights a diverse energy mix through renewable penetration, both small- and large-scale projects, energy efficiency and regional cooperation," said Rizvanolli.
