Today, the new school year 2024/2025 starts in all of Kosovo. While the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) has announced that in coordination with the municipalities, all appropriate preparations have been made, it has not announced the number of students who will continue their education in public and private institutions, nor the number of children who start learning in the first grade.

The Minister of Education Arbërie Nagavci, on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, at 10:00, will visit the "Iliria" school. Whereas, at 11:00, the "Elena Gjika" school, in Prishtina.

On August 14, the application for subsidies with textbooks and school materials was opened on the e-Kosova platform, and according to Minister Nagavci, it can be seen that procedurally this year it was much easier because the parents had active accounts.

So far, it is known that a total of 203,407 parents or legal guardians have applied for the subsidy of textbooks and school materials. Meanwhile, a total of 201,120 applicants were subsidized. The process of transferring funds is ongoing, and the application platform remains open.

Meanwhile, during the two days of the weekend, there was a great interest of parents in buying the textbooks. Meanwhile, there were parents who bought old textbooks, to save some money from the subsidy.

As part of the preparations for the beginning of the new school year, MESTI has also published the administrative instruction for the calendar of the school year 2024-2025.

This defines the beginning and end of the 2024/2025 school year in all public and private institutions, respectively of the school year according to levels, autumn break, winter break, spring break, public holidays for students of primary schools, pre-primary classes, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, pre-school institutions, and resource centers for learning and counseling.

However, by the decision of the Municipality of Prishtina, the full-day classes will take place for the first time for the students from the first to the fifth grades, for whom a warm meal is also provided. However, the educational process in the villages of this municipality continues as in previous years.

The schools where this project will start are: "Faik Konica", "Xhemail Mustafa", "Green School", "Nazim Gafurri" and "Qamil Batalli".
